Obverse description Central field bears the Devanagari legend 'Shiva' (शिव) in bold script, enclosed within a double circular border. Small floral decorative elements surround the inscription, filling the field in a manner typical of Maratha-period copper kasu coinage. The lettering is crudely executed, consistent with the hammered technique and local artisan traditions of the Thanjavur Maratha mint.
