| Reverse description | The reverse field is occupied by a grid pattern composed of intersecting double lines, forming a series of rectangular compartments filled with small dots or pellets. This decorative geometric motif, consisting of a lattice or cross-hatched arrangement bounded by double-line borders, is a characteristic device of Mysore kasu coinage of this reign. Krishnaraja Wodeyar II ruled Mysore in name only for much of this period — Hyder Ali had effectively seized control of the kingdom by 1761, and after his death in 1782, Tipu Sultan continued ruling as de facto sovereign until his defeat at Seringapatam in 1799. Copper kasu issues attributed to the Wodeyar reign were struck throughout this occupation, making the nominal issuer a fiction for the better part of four decades.
The restoration of Mysore to the Wodeyar family followed Tipu's death at British hands, giving this type an end date tied directly to a siege.
