Obverse description Central device depicting an elephant walking to the left, rendered in a stylized manner characteristic of Mysore coinage of the period. The Kannada numeral '1' appears above the elephant, denoting the denomination. The flan is irregular, as typical of hammered copper kasu coinage, with a granular or beaded border encircling the design. The overall relief is low and the strike somewhat crude, consistent with local mint production of the eighteenth century.
