| Reverse description | The reverse displays a multi-compartment grid design filled with Kannada script characters, arranged within a rectilinear framework of incuse lines dividing the field into several panels. Each panel contains portions of an inscription rendered in angular Kannada lettering, giving the surface a geometric, almost labyrinthine appearance. The overall layout is characteristic of the regal Kasu coinage issued during the reign of Chikka Devaraja Wadiyar of Mysore, with the legend recording the regnal year of issue. The strike is typical of hammered copper issues, with slight irregularity in the flan edges. |
