| Obverse description | Obverse struck by multiple punch tools applied sequentially to the flat silver flan, producing a characteristic cluster of symbolic devices across the field. The principal motifs include the sun symbol with radiating arms, a six-armed wheel or taurine device, a hill-and-crescent motif, and a stylized tree or plant form, all rendered in raised relief typical of Mauryan punch-marked coinage. Additional smaller symbols, including a bull or animal figure and geometric marks, occupy the remaining field. The punches are applied in an overlapping and irregular fashion, consistent with the workshop practice of the Mathura mint during the reign of Ashoka. No inscriptions or legends are present, as was standard for this coinage series. |
