| Obverse description | Crowned figure of King Leo III seated facing on throne, holding a sceptre in the right hand and an orb or globus cruciger in the left hand, rendered in the flat, stylized Armenian hammered tradition. The royal figure is depicted with outstretched arms resting on the throne's armrests, wearing a crown and royal robes. The central design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The Armenian legend ԼԵՒՈՆ ԹԱԳԱՒՈՐ ՀԱՅՈՑ, meaning 'Leon, King of the Armenians,' runs along the periphery of the coin within the outer border. |
