| Obverse description | Latvian-language text note on a fine arabesque underprint in blue-grey tones, enclosed within a plain rectangular border. The heading 'Jelgawas pilsehtas walde' appears at the top in large bold letterpress text, with the denomination '1 weena kapeika 1' centred in oversized numerals and text. The lower portion carries a multi-line obligation clause, the date 'no 20. oktobera 1915', a serial number at lower left, a small ornamental asterisk device, and a manuscript facsimile signature with the title 'Jelgawas kehn. kara birgermeistars'. |

| Reverse lettering | Die Mitausche Stadtverwaltung verpflichtet sich, gegen diesen Schuldschein im Laufe von sechs Monaten nach Friedensschluß 1 ein Kopeken 1 zu bezahlen. Die Sicherheit der in Höhe von 600 000 Rubel auszugebenden Schuldscheine ist durch städtisches Vermögen im Wert von 1 593 000 Rubel voll gewährleistet. Diese Schuldscheine werden von den amtlichen Zahlungsstellen in Kurland als Zahlungsmittel entgegen genommen. Nachahmungen dieses Schuldscheins werden strafrechtlich verfolgt.
