| Obverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in a bold, somewhat crude Nagari-influenced script, presenting the name and titles of Sultan Shams al-Din Iltutmish. The legends are arranged horizontally across the flan within a plain circular border. The lettering is deeply struck but irregular, consistent with the hand-hammered billon coinage of the early Delhi Sultanate. Surface shows characteristic green patination and flan irregularities typical of this series. |
