| Obverse description | Multiple lines of Arabic script filling the coin's field, arranged in a characteristic kufic/naskh style typical of Qarlughid coinage of the mid-13th century. The legend occupies virtually the entire flan, with inscriptions referencing the ruler Saif al-Din Hasan Qarlugh. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hammered copper coinage of the period. The inscription is boldly struck, with letters displaying the angular and cursive forms common to eastern Islamic numismatic tradition. Borders are plain and partially off-flan due to the irregular shape of the planchet. |
