Obverse description Central device depicting the Twelve Symbols national emblem of the Republic of China (officially in use 1913–1928), featuring a coiled dragon and a phoenix displayed in confronted arrangement, each grasping a ritual sacrificial cup (jue), posed above a ceremonial axe head (fu). The design is rendered in high relief with fine engraved detail characteristic of the period, set within a plain field bordered by a beaded inner circle and a reeded outer rim.

Reverse description Central field bearing two large Chinese characters 壹角 (One Jiao) arranged vertically within a symmetrical wreath of laurel branches tied at the base with a ribbon bow. A beaded inner circle separates the central motif from the surrounding legend, which reads 中華民國十五年 (Year 15 of the Republic of China) along the upper arc and 每枚十當圓一 (10 pieces equal 1 Yuan) along the lower arc. Two small circular ornaments flank the wreath at the mid-field. The whole is enclosed within a reeded rim.
