Obverse description Central field depicts a crenellated castle or city gateway with a rounded archway at its base, surmounted by three prominent pellets arranged in a triangular formation above the battlements, all contained within a raised corded (reeded) inner circle. The surrounding marginal legend reads D E P A R M A, distributed around the field between the inner circle and the irregular coin edge, executed in Gothic lettering typical of northern Italian medieval coinage. The overall design is rendered in low relief consistent with hammer-struck billon denari of the communal period.
