Reverse description A large Gothic initial W, the monogram of Bishop Walram of Veldenz, prominently struck within a lozenge or diamond-shaped inner border set within the rounded flan. The letter is boldly rendered in high relief, occupying nearly the entire available field. The surrounding border is raised and well-defined, a typical compositional device on medieval German episcopal pfennigs. The surfaces show natural wear and toning consistent with circulation and age.
