Obverse description Central field bearing an oval escutcheon displaying the quartered arms of ducal Saxony — the dexter half showing the traditional barry of ten or and sable with a crancelin, the sinister half charged with bezants — all set within an ornate baroque cartouche with scrolling foliate flourishes at the sides. The shield is rendered in low relief typical of small copper hammered coinage of the mid-17th century German states. A beaded inner border surrounds the device, with a pronounced outer beaded rim encompassing the entire design.
