Obverse description The archiepiscopal arms of Ernst von Bayern displayed within a lozenge (rhombus) frame, the shield divided and charged with the heraldic devices of the Wittelsbach family and the see of Salzburg. The date appears above the lozenge in the field. The overall rendering is characteristic of the rough, schematic style typical of small hammered billon issues of the mid-sixteenth century.
Obverse script Latin

Reverse description The arms of the Prince-Archbishopric of Salzburg — a divided shield featuring the Salzburg lion — displayed centrally within a lozenge frame. The design is deeply struck in a primitive, high-relief style consistent with hammered minor coinage of this period, with the surrounding field largely plain. No legend is present.
