Obverse description Quartered shield bearing the four-fold arms of the Bishopric of Osnabrück, with the initial letter 'E' (for Erich) displayed prominently above the shield in the field. The design is rendered in the crude but characteristic hammered style of early sixteenth-century German ecclesiastical coinage. The shield occupies the central field, surrounded by a beaded border.
