Obverse description Central field features an oval shield bearing the quartered arms of ducal Saxony, displayed in baroque style and surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by tall palm branches or fronds, their stems crossing at the base and their leafy fronds curving outward symmetrically to fill the field. A circular beaded or toothed border frames the entire design. The engraving is characteristic of early eighteenth-century German provincial coinage, with bold heraldic relief.
