Obverse description Central oval shield bearing a rampant lion, the arms of Palatinate-Zweibrücken, surmounted by an elaborate ducal crown. Flanking the shield on either side are decorative laurel or palm branches forming a suspended garland, with the abbreviated dynastic initials P and Z visible in the field to the left and right respectively. The composition is rendered in low relief on a plain field.
