Obverse description Two adjacent municipal shields displayed side by side within the field: at left the arms of Ulm (a divided shield with the city's distinctive halved eagle motif), and at right the arms of Überlingen. The initials V.V. appear in the upper field between the shields, with a single dot below at the bottom of the field. The whole design is enclosed within a beaded border, consistent with the hammered coinage style of early sixteenth-century imperial free cities.
