Reverse description Right-facing bust of a young Mary of Burgundy, wearing an elaborate richly ornamented hennin headdress with a veil falling behind, and a finely engraved jewelled collar and gorget. The portrait is depicted at age 20 as indicated by ETATIS ZO in the field to either side of the effigy. The bust is rendered in a refined late Gothic style consistent with the obverse portrait. The surrounding legend, separated from the central effigy by a beaded inner border, reads MARIA KAROLI FILIA HERES BVRGVND BRAB CONIVGES.
