Reverse description The quartered heraldic achievement of Archbishop Matthäus Lang von Wellenburg occupies the central field, displaying the combined arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg and his personal family coat of arms. The shield is surmounted by a cardinal's galero with pendant tassels arranged in rows on either side, accompanied by a processional cross and crozier as archiepiscopal attributes. The entire composition is boldly struck in high relief with strong heraldic detail. The surrounding marginal legend identifies the issuer in abbreviated Latin: MATTHEVS M D CARD ARCHIEPS SALZB AP SE LEGAT, proclaiming him Cardinal, Archbishop of Salzburg, and Apostolic Legate.
