Obverse description Armored half-length effigy of Archduke Ferdinand II facing right, wearing a crested and crowned helmet with horizontally banded armor. The portrait is rendered in a detailed Renaissance style with the elbow position varying between die varieties. The denomination is inscribed within a cartouche in the exergue below the bust. The peripheral legend in Latin identifies the ruler as Archduke of Austria.
