Obverse description Armored half-length effigy of Archduke Ferdinand II facing right, wearing a crown and elaborately articulated plate armor, holding a scepter in his right hand; the figure is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the armored surfaces. A circular rope border frames the central portrait. The Latin legend FERDINANDVS ARCHID AVSTRIAE D G runs around the periphery within the rope border, with the date 67 (for 1567) partially visible at the lower right of the effigy.
