| Obverse description | Armored bust of Duke Georg (George the Bearded) facing left, depicted within a beaded inner circle. The effigy shows the duke wearing a richly decorated cap and fur-trimmed armor with finely rendered horizontal fluting. A Latin legend surrounds the portrait within the outer circle, incorporating the date MDXXVII in Roman numerals as part of the inscription. The portrait is rendered in the vigorous Renaissance style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Saxon coinage. |
