| Obverse description | Central vignette presents a portrait of King Willem I (Willem Frederik Prins van Oranje-Nassau, 1772–1843), ruler of the Netherlands from 1815 to 1840. Surrounding guilloche underprint frames the portrait with decorative lathe-work. Denomination numeral "1" appears at both left and right margins. |

This is a modern fantasy or commemorative reissue rather than a circulating banknote — the Netherlands abandoned the gulden in 2002 upon adopting the euro, and Willem I's reign ended in 1840. A paper gulden with a 2019 date has no basis in Dutch monetary history and should be cataloged accordingly. Engraver attribution to Matej Gabris, a Slovak artist known for producing privately issued fantasy notes, confirms the piece's non-official status.
