| Obverse description | Central field features the rampant Holland lion, crowned and bearing a spear and a liberty hat, rendered in low relief on the cardboard planchet. The date 1574 is divided to either side of the lion's body, with '15' to the left and '74' to the right. A circular countermark depicting a small crowned shield appears to the left of the lion. The circumferential Latin legend HÆC LIBERTATIS ERGO ('All for the Sake of Liberty') runs within a beaded border around the periphery of the field. |
