Reverse description Central field displays a large crowned imperial eagle displayed, its wings spread, with an elaborate quartered heraldic shield of the Habsburg arms superimposed on its breast. The shield bears the complex dynastic quarterings of the House of Habsburg-Burgundy, including Castile, León, Aragon, and the Netherlands. The composition is tightly framed within a beaded inner circle, with the reverse legend running in the outer field separated by rosette stops. The overall design follows the established Burgundian-Netherlandish typology for gold gulden coinage of Charles V.
Reverse script Latin (uncial)
Reverse lettering DA + MICHI + VIRTVTEM + CONTRA + HOSTES ❀
