Obverse description Central field dominated by the crowned arms of Zeeland — a shield bearing a rampant lion to sinister, surmounted by an ornate royal crown — flanked by the denomination numeral '1' to the left and 'GL.' to the right. The circumferential Latin legend reads MON · ARG · ORD · FŒD · BELG · ZELANDIA · 1 GL., identifying this as coinage of the federated Belgian (Netherlands) provinces of Zeeland. The rim is defined by a bold inner beaded border and a milled outer edge, characteristic of the Middelburg mint's production style in the mid-eighteenth century.
