| Obverse description | A hand-cut playing card — the ten of clubs — repurposed as an emergency monetary instrument, with nine black club pips arranged across the card face in the standard pattern. A diagonal manuscript inscription in iron gall ink traverses the centre, recording the face value and territorial designation, with an additional handwritten serial number along the right margin. A large circular embossed dry seal is impressed at centre right, serving as the principal authentication device. |

| Obverse lettering | A Guilder, Surinam Currency Equal to 40 cents |
| Reverse description | The reverse bears the administrative validation of the Dutch Guiana colonial authority through a combination of a large circular embossed official seal impressed into the card stock, a manuscript signature of the authorising official, and a handwritten serial number, collectively constituting the legal tender authentication of the instrument. |
