| Obverse description | Central device features the heraldic eagle of Frankfurt displayed with wings spread, facing dexter, surmounted by a mural crown above its head, rendered in high relief with finely detailed feathering throughout. The eagle's talons grasp decorative foliate scrollwork at the base of the design. The circular legend FREIE STADT arcs across the upper field and FRANKFURT curves along the lower field, both in raised Latin serif capitals. The whole is contained within a continuous beaded border. |
