Obverse description Right-facing laureate bust of George III, engraved by Lewis Pingo in a refined neoclassical style, with the king's hair elaborately dressed in tight curls and tied with a ribbon at the nape, adorned with a laurel wreath. The truncation of the bust is cleanly cut. The peripheral legend GEORGIVS III DEI GRATIA· runs clockwise around the upper and lateral fields, rendered in sharply struck Roman capitals on the deeply mirrored proof surface.
