| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate bust of King George III facing right, with flowing hair rendered in fine detail and a ribbon tied at the nape. The king's effigy displays a classical, high-relief portrait style characteristic of mid-18th century Royal Mint engraving by Richard Yeo. A laurel wreath crowns the head, and the truncation of the bust is plain. The peripheral legend reads GEORGIVS·III·DEI·GRATIA· in Roman capitals, separated by pellet stops, running along the upper and right portions of the coin's field. |
