Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of King George I facing right, rendered in the third portrait style, with the distinctive characteristic of no hair extending below the truncation. The effigy is surrounded by a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend arranged around the periphery of the coin in Latin script. The portrait demonstrates the refined engraving style characteristic of John Croker's work at the Royal Mint during the early Hanoverian period.
