| Obverse description | Central field displays the papal coat of arms of Pope Paul III (Alessandro Farnese), consisting of a quartered shield bearing the Farnese lilies, surmounted by the papal tiara and crossed keys of Saint Peter. The shield is set within an ornate cartouche with foliate mantling. The surrounding circular legend is interrupted by the year notation, with the regnal year appearing prominently to the left of the shield. |
