Reverse description Central field displays a large cross pattée, its four arms extending to an inner raised circle, with a smaller crosslet or cross pattée motif placed in each of the four quadrants formed by the main cross. The composition is enclosed within a plain raised inner ring, surrounded by an elaborate outer border of interlaced or foliate ornamental design consistent with early seventeenth-century hammered copper coinage of northern Italy. No legend is present on the reverse. The flan is irregular, and the surfaces show green patination characteristic of aged copper.
