| Obverse description | The obverse displays the heraldic arms of Pope Clement XI, composed of his personal coat of arms — a star in chief and a three-peaked mountain (trimonzio) in base — surmounted by the Vatican shield bearing two crossed keys in saltire, the whole ensigned by the papal tiara with three crowns (triregnum). The arms are rendered in high relief against a flat field. The pontifical legend encircles the composition, identifying the issuing authority and regnal year. |
