Obverse description Central field features the Visconti serpent (biscione) displayed vertically within a quatrefoil frame, the coiled viper depicted devouring a figure. Above the serpent, the imperial Visconti eagle is shown displayed with wings spread. The initials B and G (for Barnabò and Galeazzo) flank the central device, with trefoil ornaments at the quarters of the inner border. The surrounding circular legend in Gothic lettering reads: + BERNABVS • 3 • GALEAZ • VICECOMITES B G.
