| Obverse description | Central field dominated by a bold plain cross pattee enclosed within a raised rope or torsade inner circle. The annular border between the inner circle and the outer beaded rim is filled with eight large Gothic letters in uncial script reading MEDIOLAN V, denoting Milan. The legend segments are separated by the arms of the cross, which extend to meet the inner circle. The overall design is stark and geometric, characteristic of the Ambrosino grosso type produced under the First Milanese Republic, with no additional symbols or mintmarks present in the fields. |
