Reverse description A bold cross pattée occupying the full field, with flared terminals extending nearly to the coin's edge, dividing the reverse into four quarters. The arms of the cross are well-defined and characteristic of the hammered grosso coinage of central Italian communes of the mid-thirteenth century. The surrounding circular legend is distributed across the four quadrants formed by the cross arms. The irregular flan and double-struck areas are consistent with hand-struck medieval minting practice.
