Reverse description A hand emerging from clouds in the upper left field grasps a partially furled battle standard or flag, the fabric of which cascades downward and to the right. The flag displays an ornate decorative device. The circular border legend reads IEHOVA VEXILLIVM MEVM, a Biblical motto meaning 'Jehovah is my banner,' rendered in Latin capital letters, typical of the pious iconographic program found on Saxon commemorative issues of the period.
