Obverse description Rampant lion passant to the left, rendered in a crude late-medieval Gothic style characteristic of hammered coinage from the Brunswick region. The lion is depicted with exaggerated forepaws and tail, occupying the central field. The surrounding circular legend in uncial characters reads GROSVS hENRICI DVCIS III B, separated by small rosette or pellet stops. The flan is irregular, and the overall strike is typical of 15th-century north German groschen production.
