Additional information

Frederick of Saxony served as Grand Master of the Teutonic Order from 1498 until his death in 1510, the last Grand Master to hold any meaningful territorial authority before the catastrophic losses of the coming decade. The Order's Prussian coinage was already under pressure from the Polish crown following the Second Peace of Toruń in 1466, which had stripped the Order of West Prussia and forced the Grand Masters to rule what remained as Polish vassals — a humiliation that haunted every administrative and monetary decision of Frederick's tenure.
