Obverse description Elaborately interlaced script monograms of co-rulers Christian Ernest (CE) and Francis Josias (FJ), rendered in ornate Baroque calligraphic style and surmounted by a princely crown. The conjoined cyphers occupy the central field, with the four-digit date 1737 displayed in the lower exergue. The coin's milled border frames the entire design.

Reverse description A crowned oval heraldic shield bearing the four-fold quartered arms of the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Saalfeld, flanked symmetrically on either side by a palm branch. The shield is surmounted by a ducal crown with cross finial. The circular legend reads FVRST. SACHS. SAALFELD. LAND. MVNZ., with the denomination 1 gl and the mintmaster's initials GHE appearing below the shield in the lower field.
