Reverse description A four-line Latin inscription in bold raised lettering occupies the central field, reading DILI- / GENTIÆ / PRÆ- / MIUM (meaning 'Prize for Diligence'), enclosed within a symmetrical laurel wreath tied at the base. The wreath branches extend gracefully on either side, framing the inscription, with a milled border encircling the entire reverse. The design is characteristic of German school prize coinage (Schulprämie) of the early eighteenth century.
