Obverse description Eight-fold quartered shield of arms of the County of Stolberg, displaying the heraldic devices of the six ruling counts, occupying the central field. A beaded inner circle frames the shield, with a Latin legend running around the periphery naming the six counts in abbreviated form. The die is of typical late 16th-century German hammered style, with the arms boldly struck in relief.
