Obverse description The city arms of Hannover displayed centrally within a fortified gateway flanked by two multi-storied towers, with a rampant lion passant to sinister positioned above the arch in the field. The entire device is rendered in the bold relief typical of early seventeenth-century German municipal coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, running along the coin's periphery.
