| Obverse description | Facing crowned bust of King Richard III enclosed within a Gothic tressure of arches, with the king depicted in three-quarter relief wearing a jewelled crown and draped shoulders, his hair falling to either side in flowing locks. The bust is flanked by the arched cusps of the inner tressure, which itself is bounded by a beaded inner circle. A Latin regal legend in uncial lettering runs continuously around the outer field, interrupted by pellet stops, proclaiming the king's titles as sovereign of England and France. |
