Reverse description The reverse displays a quartered royal shield of arms, divided by a plain cross, bearing in the first and fourth quarters the fleurs-de-lis of France and in the second and third quarters the passant guardant lions of England, all rendered in the hammered style typical of Henrician coinage. The shield is surmounted by a royal crown. The surrounding legend in Gothic lettering, separated by pellet stops, gives the king's name and titles as King of England by the grace of God, running within a beaded inner circle.
