Reverse description A quartered royal shield of arms, displaying the fleurs-de-lis of France and the passant guardant lions of England in alternating quarters, surmounted by a small crown and superimposed upon a long cross fourchée that extends to the beaded inner circle, dividing the field into four sections. The shield and cross together form the characteristic armorial type of mid-Tudor Tower Mint groats. The reverse legend in Gothic lettering occupies the outer field between the beaded inner and outer circles, with stops separating the words.
