Obverse description Large Renaissance-style draped and crowned effigy of King Henry VIII facing right, rendered in the Laker bust A3 style, with the arched crown breaking the inner beaded circle. The portrait displays a broad, naturalistic treatment characteristic of the second coinage. A circular Latin legend in uncial lettering surrounds the effigy within the inner circle, with saltires marking word divisions at the terminals of the cross-ends.

Reverse description A quartered royal shield of arms — displaying the fleurs-de-lis of France in the first and fourth quarters and the passant guardant lions of England in the second and third quarters — is superimposed over a long cross fourchée that extends to the inner beaded circle, dividing the field into four sections. A saltire ornament occupies each fork of the cross fourchée. The circular Latin legend in uncial lettering runs between the inner and outer beaded borders, with saltires as word stops.
