| Reverse description | Long voided cross pattée extending to the coin's edge, dividing the field into four quadrants each containing a shield bearing the royal arms: the quartered arms of France ancient (semée of fleurs-de-lis) and England (three passant guardant lions). Each shield is set within a beaded inner circle, and the quadrants are further decorated with pellets at the shield corners. The mint name and pious legend in Gothic uncial lettering appear in two concentric registers around the periphery, separated by saltire stops, with the city name CIVITAS LONDON split across the lower legend. |
