Reverse description A quartered royal shield of arms — bearing the lilies of France and lions of England in alternate quarters — is superimposed over a long cross fourchée (cross with forked ends) that extends to the inner circle, dividing the field into four sections. The shield is depicted with fine heraldic detail typical of mid-Tudor hammered groats. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, with the Latin legend running in the outer margin. The overall composition follows the standard reverse type established for English groats of this period.
